Approximately four miles north of Brentwood is the beautiful village of Kelvedon Hatch, which is surrounded by green belt land and is located in the heart of the Metropolitan Green Belt. Well known for being home to the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker, the largest and deepest cold war bunker open to the public in South East England, Kelvedon Hatch also features Rope Runners; the first high ropes course in Essex and winner of Essex Tourism Awards 2011 for best experience. The village is also home to St Nicholas church which was built in 1895, and its architecture has been recognised as a fine example of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The community primary school has a nursery attached and works closely with the village to take part in the annual fete, which is always a big success.
